wild guava jelly

Postby Azzo Ranar on Sun Aug 22, 2004 11:22 pm

I spent the better part of today making home made jelly from the guava's that grow wild in the woods where we hunt. I am moving on to Florida grapes next. Not enough grapes left for wine this year, the builder for the lot behind me destroyed the wild grape vines along with most of my fence in the back when they cleared the land.I had to go to a friends house and raid his grape vines which he was kind enough to share. I get a good amount from deep woods grapes but I had been pruning and caring for the ones in my back yard for 5 yrs. That was my pride and joy from which my best hooch sprung. Ahh well all good things come to pass, and I have some of the vine left to rebuild and train again. Just figured I would share the latest cooking/brewing updates.

The very northernmost parts of Florida have wild strawberries but we don't. I remmeber picking them as a kid in Arkansas though and Texas. Tasty lil things to be sure.
