Well, I'd just say "Bite Me!" and laugh.
hehe

I'll bet that Celeste posts the way she thinks.

No comment! I'm being good!

She's a breath of fresh air and she gets lambasted for offering up a suggestion.

If you look back at a lot of her posts, I would regard it as less of fresh air and more of toxic pollution. But, that is just my opinion and EVERYONE has one of those. ;)

Not exactly the WoD way, is it? Because if it is, I play the wrong game and I read the wrong Boards.

On the boards, anything goes. That means I can be flamed, you can be flamed, Jesus Christ on a Stick can be flamed, anyone! And then we all shrug and get back to whatever we were doing. Isn't the WoD way, it is the way of the 'net, the way of online bulletin boards and forums. Always been that way, always will be.

the net is just the medium we use to reach WoD. I would certainly expect a higher standard of civility to pervade these boards than one encounters in USENET for instance.
usenet is truly the domain of the lowest common denominator and dammit we are better than that aren't we.

aside from that where does one find a goodly supply of demons to debone anyhow? used to be some lurking at the bottom of shame but they seem to have moved on from there. are there some in the bottom level of hyloth?
perhaps we need a new spawning locale for demons. i can think of a certain island temple going largely to waste right now.

I think that would be marvelous! That warm temple? That the one you speaking of? Wouldn't it be wonderful if Fire Island was actually populated? Dragons and Daemons and OtherStuff, Oh My!!

Hmm...

I remember this happening a few others but it was seen as "whining." Oh wait, I'm whining now about whining. :D

It's just like the movie "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" said. The internet was made for anonymous blasting of others on message boards. I'd bet that 3/4ths of the crap spewed in here wouldn't be said face to face because it's just rude. If it was, there would be screaming matches and then fighting. People are civil to each other for a reason.

Another thing about face-to-face conversations is that we would actually hear the TONE OF VOICE that people use instead of figuring it out for ourselves and being wrong most of the time. If there was a miscomunication issue, then when people explain what they meant, someone else couldn't come back and "tell" the person what they "really" meant and flame them for it, (even though they were not the one making the post in the first place.)

Anyway, I broke my own rule and posted on a contoversial topic meaning I am probably going to get flamed for this but I had to throw my hat in the "I agree with Atei" ring. I also probably, in some people's eyes, just hurt Atei's point by posting on his side but I agree 100% with him. I got sick of seeing Celeste slammed every single time she posted.

Flame me if you want, I've kinda built up a callous now.

Calluses aren't really effective against flames unless they are asbestos calluses and those are expensive. I have a set if you are interested and since you are a WoD member I'll sell them half price!!

I commend Atei for sticking up for someone who got needlessly flamed. In this particular thread that is what happened. If someone gets flamed for nothing I'm gonna stick up for them also regardless of my good or bad feelings towards them. I have done it before.

Pshaw, Azzo was the only one that came even close to an actual flame. Everyone else just made comments.

The WoD forums see very little real flaming. Most of it is barely lukewarm. I've seen maybe 2 or 3 actual flamefests in the nine months I've been around here. Whew, some of the groups I've seen in the past, hoo boy, you'd not be calling these mediocre things flames.

I've seen worse boards too.

The point is this is WoD. There should be very little flaming, maybe even none at all.

Why? We aren't allowed to express what we think even if we really SHOULD pause and take a few hundred deep breaths first? That is just as bad as 'flaming' Celeste or Simon or you or anyone else. Celeste even got hammered several times because she said things that she probably wouldn't have if she had thought about it first. Is she to be chastised for that now? Are we all supposed to be goody goody? I THINK NOT! (he says in a resounding voice)

Bravo for prooving my point. You took it the complete wrong way.

I said thesre should be "little to no flaming," not "no discussions." All I'm asking is that we all start being civil about it.

If someone misinterprets something you wrote, then it is usually very conducive for accurate communication to rephrase or reword whatever it was they did not understand.

Your point, as I understood it, was that this is WoD and there should be little, or no, flaming. I rejoined with my opinion that no one should EXPECT anyone to respond any particular way. I further went on to express my disagreement with an attitude I perceived you to have that we all should not be disagreeable at times. I don't see a problem with disagreements. It is inevitable. We aren't all "good" at all times and our perception of what "good behavior" varies wildly from individual to individual.

Y'all get mah meaning, catch my drift?

Welp, I've seen it all now and can official die in peace: No board is safe from pointless bickering, not even the once-sacred "Traders/Craftsmen Forum."

Ooooh, this once was sacred? Utoh! I didn't know that. I do apologize. I'll not stain the sanctity of these halls with pointless bickering again! I'll save that for the other forums. ;)
