Changes for December 2002
12-23-2
- Merry Christmas!
- When you next log in, you'll receive 2 Christmas presents in the backpack of
whatever character you log in first. I'd recommend openining them before too long
for two reasons: 1) If you die, you may lose them, and 2) they'll poof
shortly after the first of next year. To open the present, double click on it: each
present will allow you to select one of the following items:
- A furniture dye tub - probably not the best selection, since they're also
available from several other sources, but its kind of traditional to have them
as an option
- 3 laminating kits - The same as the laminating kits that you can get through
the Adventurer's Guild, you can use them on metal weapons and armor to get some
unusual colors
- 3 leather dye kits - similar to the laminating kits, but they work on leather
armor instead of metal
- A decorative bell - Purty
- A teddy bear - if you don't know what this is, I'm not going to tell you
- A stuffed dragon - similar to the teddy bear
- A Bonsia tree - a small decorative tree, looks kind of like a Reaper
- An Ophidian action figure - with super Karate action!
- An ankh deed - a deed that lets you place an ankh (those 'cross with a loop' things
that you see at the virtue shrines) anywhere you can place most other deeds. Ankhs take
up 2 lockdowns
- A stone face - give your tower a nice gothic look. If you double-click it when its
locked down in your house, it'll shoot a fireball
- Important - you'll receive your christmas presents the first time you log in from
now until December 30th (or so.) If you do not open your presents before January 4th, they
boxes WILL disappear and will not be replaced
12-23-2
- Fixed a couple of minor bugs with snowballs
12-22-2
- There's now a gate outside Britain Bank that will take you to a snowy area
in T2A. When you teleport in, you'll receive 5 snowballs that can only be used in
the snowball fight area. Have fun :)
- Its time, I suppse, to reveal some more information about Benson. First, though, some
general information about the magic spawning system:
- Each type of NPC has 2 main attributes when it comes to dropping magic items: chance
to drop a magic item (obvious) and quality rating of the magic item dropped (which is what
I'm going to talk about.) Quality is rated on a scale of 1 to 10 and influences (but doesn't
dictate) the actual quality of them item that is created. An item with a low quality rating
will probably be bad, but there's a small chance that you'll get a good item. An item dropped
from a monster with a higher quality rating will, on average, be better, but still may wind
up being a bad item
- When you give Benson a magic item, he'll give you some points depending on the previously
mentioned quality. A really good magic item may not be worth that many points, while a poor
magic item may be worth more
- Once you get 100 points, you can buy a magic potion from Benson (say 'buy' to him - he'll
charge you 10k gold for the potion, also.) You can use the potion on exceptional player-made
armor (and a few other items that don't need to be exceptional - druid and necro staves, for
example) and it will make it into a magic item. The magic quality of this item
will be a 10 - the highest possible quality (though again, you may still wind up with a bad
item - bring your lucky rabbits foot with you when you use the potion :) )
12-20-2
- Added one more button to the druidbag mini-gump from the other day: the button is
located in the center of the movement arrows. When turned on, the arrows will
move the gump in large increments. When turned off, the gump will move in
smaller increments
12-17-2
- Added a 'mini-gump' option to the druid spellbag. To activate it, press the small down
arrow at the bottom-middle of the normal druidbag gump
- You can move the mini-gump around using the arrow buttons. The mini-gump will remain in
that position even if its closed and reopened (until you log out.)
- Logging out resets the druidbag to its normal state. If you 'lose' the gump (by moving
it offscreen or something), you can log out and back on to fix it
- Test change: If you have more pets than you can control at a time, your pets
will now refuse to obey you (instead of going wild.) This may not be a permanent
change - just something we're trying out.
12-15-2
- A rather significant addition, but not one that I'm going to give too many
details on quite yet. You'll just have to experiment and figure some of the
stuff out on your own, at least for the next couple of days.
Sorry, but I feel mean
Some discussion about this already exists on the
quests forum
12-06-2
- Fixed a number of problems with the weather system
12-05-2
- Hopefully fixed the bug that's been causing server crashes
12-03-2
- Fixed Christmas tree deeds
- Pizza crusts are now stackable again (though older ones you may have won't
change - this only affects newly created pizza crusts)
12-02-2
- When you next log in, you'll recieve a Christmas Tree deed. The deed can be
used inside of a house that you own or are friended to to place a Christmas tree
(which takes 15 lockdowns.) Don't bother hoarding them: They'll poof in January
anyway.
- You may want to start saving any crappy magic items you get from this
point on... (details tomorrow. Or the next day.)
12-01-2
- Updated the WoD script release (in the files section)
- Important note: If you want to save the existing account playtimes from
before the new script release, after you install it, type ".fix_playtimes"
