Changes for February 2002

2-28-2

  • Improved the auctioneer status command from yesterday: When you say status to the auctioneer, you'll now receive a menu with 3 options: Check items you've bid on, Check items you're selling, and view transaction log.
  • Check items you've bid on: If there are any items on which you are the current high bidder, this option will display them, regardless of what auction category they're in
  • Check items you're selling: If there are any items you have up for sale, this option will display them, regardless of what auction category they're in
  • View transaction log: When an auction that you're involved in ends, a message about the results of that auction will be added (The messages are along the lines of "You bought a widget for 5000 gold", "You sold a gadget for 2500 gold", "The auction for your doo-dad ended with no bidders", and so on) This option will display all such messages from the last time you checked, then erases the log. (Not fully tested yet - it takes a while for auctions to end :) )

  • Fixed a significant bug that would happen if you would have an item with a skill bonus of more than 10
  • Laminating kits now work correctly on metal shields (but not order and chaos shields)
  • New auctioneer feature: 'status' will now show you all of the items that you're selling and all the items that you're the current high bidder on

  • Removed debug messages from itemID
  • Somewhat reduced the speed that you gain stats from standing around doing nothing (though its not nearly as slow as it way way back when, but it IS quite a bit slower than it has been the past month or so now.)
  • Fixed a bug in merchant delivery quests. They previously thought that all deliveries were to other towns and therefore gave the bonus cash for that. They now recognize their town correctly (or to put it simply, they pay less money, now.)
  • When you complete a merchant delivery quest, you now have a chance to increase your stats. The lower your stats are, the better your chances of an increase. Merchant delivery quests will pretty much only get you up to 75 or so in any given stat, though.
  • When you complete a guard delivery quest, you now have a chance to increase your stats. The lower your stats are, the better your chances of an increase. Guard delivery quests can increase your stats up to their maximum, and have a much better chance of an increase than merchant quests.

2-24-2

  • Alchemy no longer has an action button beside it on the skill window (it didn't do anything, anyway.)
  • You can no longer plant trees inside of houses
  • You should no longer leave behind an NPC clone of yourself if you log out inside of a house that you do not own or are friended to
  • Fixed a rounding error in calculating the chance of a critical hit. It previously rounded down to the nearest 10's place (so with 86 anatomy skill, you had an 8% chance of a critical. You'd now have an 8.6% chance of a critical hit.)

  • Worldsaves are now 2 hours apart (instead of the previous 1 hour.) If any problems occur (which I think is unlikely, with any luck) we may have to go back to the 1 hour delay.

  • Possibly fixed the bug that causes unusable magic items (platemail of meditation, for example) from spawning. No, really, this time for sure. Ok, probably not.
  • Fixed a few minor naming issues for magic items
  • Fixed beef jerky to put the increased nutritional value back in
  • Merchants should now attack you when you steal from them

  • Fixed a few bugs with yesterday's changes to spellcasting
  • Possibly, maybe fixed NPCs so they won't try to cast spells over and over again even though they don't have enough mana
  • Updated the POL 0.94 scripts available in the files section, since there's been quite a few big bug fixes the past couple of days (and a few new big bugs :P )
  • Fixed a small bug with destroying trees

  • Made several major changes to spellcasting to try to fix the 'already casting a spell' bug. Let me know if its still happening, or if any other bugs pop up...

  • Fixed quite a few major bugs with merchant training.
  • Even more bug fixes that are just WAY too boring to document
  • Released something of a preliminary version of the WoD scripts for POL 0.94, available in the files section. Since POL 0.94 isn't officially released yet, I'd recommend not asking about it in other POL forums (Some of the people on the pol-scriptforum Yahoo group get a tad crabby about that :) ) Again, its kind of a preliminary release of the scripts - there's probably still a lot of bugs. The older WoD scripts for POL 0.92 are still available, also.

  • A few more tweaks to make NPC spellcasters not quite so dumb
  • Added ".sort bank" You must be standing near a banker to use this. It will then ask you to target a bag (in your backpack.) It will then go through all the items in that bag and, if its stackable and you have other items of that type in your bankbox, will stack those items with the ones in your bankbox.
  • Vendors will no longer allow you to rename potion kegs
  • Even more bug fixes that are just WAY too boring to document

  • Fixed problems with a whole lot of spells
  • Increased the range of Meteor Swarm and Explosion a bit
  • Nature's Blessing and Nature's Curse now have kewl special effects

  • Fixed the mana cost for gating with runebooks
  • Fixed problems with the necro spells Release and Transfusion
  • Fixed a bug upgrading carpentry items
  • Player merchants will again let to rename most containers
  • Random events will once again happen with lumberjacking
  • Fixed some problems with farming and fruit trees
  • Fixed a bug with the druid spells Nature's Curse and Nature's Blessing

  • Meditation should now be working correctly
  • Fixed a bug with autoheal
  • Fixed a bug with totem creatures appearing almost dead
  • Taught NPCs the secret of not trying to cast spells they don't have enough mana for

  • Negative values should no longer appear on the merchant training menu
  • Raw ribs can now be ground into raw sausage using a flour mill (amazing machines, those flour mills.)

  • Fixed the display bug that occured with mana when you would cast a spell
  • Spells will no longer consume mana unless you successfully cast them (skillcheck success only - if you cancel targetting, you'll still lose mana)
  • Fixed bugs in a whole bunch of different spells
  • Fixed a bug where spells cast from scroll cost twice as much as they should
  • Resurrecting henchmen should be fixed

  • Stamina will now regenerate even when you're starving (though very slowly) to prevent stuck issues
  • Maps should now work again
  • A bug with buffs and debuffs not wearing off correctly should now be fixed
  • A bug with buffs and debuffs not wearing off correctly should now be fixed (second try)
  • Poison protection items now work again
  • Fixed a small bug with .grab and autocarve

2-6-2

  • The World of Dreams server software has now been updated to POL 0.94. This involved a lot of changes to just about everything, so there's probably a good number of bugs. Let me know about any you find...
  • Skill bonuses on items stack up to a maximum of +10
  • Wearing items will skill bonuses will no longer affect buying training from a merchant
  • HP, stamina and mana regeneration is more affected by hunger that it was previously. Now, when you're starting to get hungry, your regenerative abilities are slowly decreased until you are starving, when you stop regenerating entirely
  • HP, stamina and mana no longer regenerate naturally while poisoned (they can still regenerate from, say, a campfire)
  • The poison system has been completely rewritten. The current values are still subject to tweaking
  • Some NPCs, larget monsters especially, now regenerate health somewhat faster
  • Increased the nutritional value of pizza to try to help encourage the use of stackable foods
  • Some small adjustments to the stats and skills of assorted NPCs
  • You can no longer use a key or keyring to lock a container if the key or keyring is inside of the container being locked
  • Removed the GM dot command '.stat' Try using .info instead
  • Rewrote portions of the GM dot command '.info' to be more useful/user friendly
  • The qualifying conditions to be a Virtue Guard are now checked more often
  • Bonuses from magical items no longer allow you to join the virtue guards. You MUST have leadership as a primary skill in order to join.
  • Due to some changes in the way autoheal works, you need to reset your autoheal options

  • Snowstorm, a new druid spell, is now available
