Try using area spells like chain lighting (for when they first spotted you), and earthquake (for when they've surrounded you). Meteor swarm or explosion could work as well instead of CL too. Earthquake, though, is the only area spell I know that won't hurt you as well if used in close range.
There are other kinds of area spells you can use (the "field" ones for instance), but that all depends on the scroll of your preference. Yes, you NEED to use scrolls, at least for your main offensive spells. To do otherwise is just a waste of your time.

Also, if there are too many, just run back and come back to pick them out one or two at a time. The first time they see you they will ALL lock on you at the same time. The second time only the closest ones will follow you.

Move too much and the stamina loss gets ya.

Hehehe, good one :) Not if you move the right way (i.e not through them but around them). Like De Niro said in one of my fav movies, I never go into a place I don't know how to get myself out (paraphrasing). Don't let your back be blocked by too many mobs you're not able to walk through them should the need arise. Yeah, I know, easier said than done. It just takes practice and patience. Tanks are much easier to fight with in that sense. Tanks just have to stand there and swing away until the enemy drops, or until they need to run away and heal. You CANNOT, SHOULD NOT, MUST NOT use the same strategy with magi (if it can be called that at all), at least not all the time. You always need to think one step ahead of your enemies. Death comes swifter to magi than tanks, but tanks do suck more :P

Joram, Thanks for the tips but I have and still do all that stuff. My bard mage's problem is that he isnt a pure mage and his spells don't do the damage that a pure mage does. His primary method of attack is Provocation. He uses the spells to finish things off. I've even gone so far as to summon a bunch of really weak elementals to go get hit for me while I bard, but that was taken away too.

Either way there's nothing I can really do about it now, or even before so I guess I have to accept it and move on.

ha im not even a pure mage and they made my charecter totaly useless.

Ahh . . . barding. I think I was a bard for about three weeks and decided it wasn't for me. I never understood how people could make money out of being a bard, let alone find enjoyment in watching two mobs fight each other while you just stand there doing nothing (one of the reasons I dropped dragonhandling. . . err. . .I mean taming :P). Yeah, I have no advice for you there. From what I hear barding hasn't really improved at all in the past year or so. You may want to consider changing your skillset if you really hate barding. No sense in doing something you don't enjoy.

Useless, agreed, but your character is alright. It's your attitude that's rotten.

Umm . . . I see I'm going to need my universal d3wd translator for this one.
Ahh yes, yes, I see now. You don't have the foggiest what you're talking about. Yes, well let me enlighten you. I do have two (pure) mage characters. One is a necro/mage/wizard, and the other is a druid/mage/wizard (former ranger). It doesn't make much sense for me to want to screw two of my best characters. I enjoy playing with them too. That's why I still have them. When I don't like something I change it or deal with it. I've had Vardion for 4+ years now, and I'm quite satisfied with his current skillset.

Incidentally, all of my characters ride high horses, mages and tanks alike. Part of my strategy is to be on horseback all the time so I can move around quicker and not get killed so easily. So you'll forgive me I prefer to stay saddled [if you were referring to the metaphoric idiom "get off your high horse," you're using it wrong--inappropiate context :)]

u goT MaDd skiLlz, don't ya? Well, I'd be more than glad to show you some of my skills on my mage character. Unfortunately, I'd be breaking a few WoD regulations if I did so, so I'm gonna let this one go with a simple . . . :ninja:

This thread has lost all usefulness and has degraded to a simple insult session (unless I'm missing something) might I suggest it be locked or something?

Naw, I think it is truly degrading into an insult session, you are correct.

I think I put my self in the best position to judge that. As far as I can tell, very few true idiots, and tons of people who truly love to play here.

Hmm, there seems to be 2 trends in the forums these days: insulting others and house auctions.
Don't like either but would like the first one to end :)
