Holy crap. You can almost tell how old someone is by their choices.
Thanks to everyone who is posting. It helps pass the boring points at work.

Dark City was a great movie. I'm willing to bet that a lot of people haven't seen it, since it was mostly an 'under the radar' sort of movie, so if you haven't seen it, go track it down and rent it. Its also shown occasionally on cable channels like TNT.
Despite being a major (major, major) Transformers fan (an original G1 Optimus Prime is sitting in my room right now watching me type this), I never really liked the Transformers movie. I remember walking out of the theater and thinking that it kind of blew, despite being like 12 years old. It kind of turned me off Transformers after that, and I blame the movie entirely for the demise of the Transformers line (though it has tried to make a few comebacks since then, but they just haven't had the spark that would make them work.)
On that note, anyone seen <a href="http://www.kbtoys.com/genProduct.html/PID/2570339/ctid/17/INstock/Y/D/605/ls/default">this</a>? I want one, but its just way too expensive.

Yes Dark city was cool.
As far as transformers cannon goes, I missed the movie when I was a kid so when 3rd season it was basically a WTF moment for me. Going back and seeing the movie later I realized that I could enjoy it, cept for the fact that most characters that died, died from piddly crap they had taken and survived from many times in the series. I still like it better than most disney cartoons.

I liked the Transformers movie, and the series. I wasnt much of a Prime fan though, more into the bad guys. Soundwave and Astrotrain (god my memory sucks and I can remember the names hehehe) as for Dark City, it was alright, I've seen better but I've seen worse too!

BTW, Drocket I have the 20th anniversary Optimus Prime and it is worth every penny. You can get it at Wal-Mart for $63. I was an idiot and did it through amazon.com and paid $96 with S&H. First toy I've bought in 15 Years, excluding playstation.

Umm...which part? Are we talking about (1998) Dark City, starring Keifer Sutherland and Jennifer Connelly? I thought it was an "interesting" movie but hardly "great." Interesting in the
eXistenZ (1999) and
Thirteenth Floor (1999) kinda interesting (if you've seen those movies). Sorry but I have to give it two and half *'s at best.

Btw, if you really want to see some WTF?!kinda movies I'd recommend Memento, Requiem for a Dream, Donnie Darko, and of course, everyone's all time fav WTF flick--Mulholland Dr..
Almost forgot, 21 Grams is another weird one (reminiscent of the same unorderly scene mixing of Memento) but is actually kinda good and makes perfect sense at the end so I'm not sure if I'd rate it as a WTF movie.

*jumps in late*
Top 5 not really in any particular order (too hard to order new and old shows)
West Wing
The Pretender
M.A.S.H.
Twilight Zone (both series but the original was better)
The Outer Limits
Honorable mentions to: Connections, History Bites, and umm, I thought there was a third one.

I'm not really sure: overall, the movie just appealed to me. Part of it, I think, is that it addressed the debate over what makes a person who they are. It is the memories that they possess, or is it something deeper? The movie never really gave a specific answer either way.

Yup, precisely the reason I don't give the movie a great review. The film (its plot) apparently has no internal resolution to what
should be its central issue. In the end, it turns out the movie is just another obscure, sci-fi thriller that raises a lot of questions but makes no attempt to answer them [The main plot basically goes like this: bad aliens exploit humans, human hero goes realizes his power, human hero defeats evil aliens and frees humans.] In the end, little is said about the existential dilemma of the beginning. Happy Hollywood endings are far more satisfactory, I suppose.
Btw, if you're interested in this kind of sci-fi, psychological thriller I'd recommend you rent
PI (1998), if you haven't seen it already. I must warn you, it might force you to think hard

Not being a TV sort of person, I can't think of 5 particular TV shows I really liked, but,
I loved the TV show V, and the 2 mini-series that went with it.
I also loved the 12 episode miniseries North and South.
Favorite movies include:
Braveheart
LOTR Trilogy
Dances with Wolves
The Color Purple
Moll Flanders
Titanic
...and I'm sure I'll think of a dozen more favorite movies.

Hmmm... 5 favorite TV shows, eh? That's a real tough one to decide... I need more than 5...
1. Nuruto (Anime)
2. Ai Yori Aioshi (Anime)
3. Full Metal Alchemist (Anime)
4. Family Guy
5. Futurama
6. Cowboy Bebop and Trigun (Tossup, I own both complete series. "^_^")
7. South Park!!! Hee hee.
Ummm... that's prolly my top list... I'm sure I'll think of more later, and those aren't in any particular 'one over the other' list either...
Movies:
Tenchi Muyo 2: Daughter of Darkness (Anime)
Metropolis (The Anime, not the crappy american movie...)
Along Came Polly
Batman (The original... you know... "BANG," "POW"!!! That one. ^_^)
Princess Bride
and
ANY Jackie Chan Movie!!!
Chan is the MAN!!! Woot! "^_^"
Oh yah. And as a new category... hahaha. Anyone ever see that "Nad's hair remover," infomercial?
If you haven't... just watch it... Best 30 mins. of my life... laughing 'cause someone is claiming how, "Rubbing Nad's on my legs helps remove unsightly hair!"
O.K. So I'm just weird. "^_^"
